08/28/2013
The Fair presents more than 280 exhibitors from Croatia, Serbia, Turkey, Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina, on 13,000 square meters of indoor and outdoor space.
“This fair was recognized by exhibitors from around the world and the region, which is proof that we have the ability for development and enough intelligence and experience to be even better at things we are good at,” said Prime Minister Niksic.
Support to this Fair was given by the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina Valentin Inzko. “I didn't know that a fruit such as plum can assemble and employ large numbers of people, because of that the Plum Fair, among other things, shows that this country is unrivalled when it comes to natural resources. Agricultural sector in BIH has enormous long-term economic potential. This potential is not yet fully realized because the responsible authorities work slowly on establishing a certification system for agricultural products, but in this area, however, progress has been made and we hope that in the near future this process can take place even faster,” he said.
The High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina also said that high-quality fruits and fruit products from BIH can find a profitable place in European and other markets around the world.
“People in B&H are hardworking people, remember that. Workers and managers of cooperatives and farms throughout the country tighten their sleeves to achieve the highest standards, and at the fair in Gradacac we see that they launched great products,” he added.
The opening ceremony of the fair was attended by numerous officials of all levels of government in B&H, representatives of embassies in B&H and former Croatian President Stjepan Mesic.
Plum Fair will be open until 31 August 2013.
