More Than 100 Chinese Business Representatives in BiH: New Investment Opportunities in Energy, Infrastructure and Digitalization

The Foreign Investment Promotion Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FIPA), the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the People’s Republic of China organized a business forum in Sarajevo on September 3, bringing together more than 100 representatives of Chinese companies, business associations, and other institutions from the People’s Republic of China.

The visit of the Chinese business delegation represents an important opportunity to further strengthen economic relations between the two countries, foster business connections, and showcase concrete investment opportunities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

FIPA Director Marko Kubatlija emphasized that the forum provided an excellent platform to present Bosnia and Herzegovina’s investment potential to Chinese investors and business partners, while also opening the door to new opportunities for cooperation and investment.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina is situated at the crossroads of important European corridors and has significant natural resources, a skilled and competitive workforce, while its free trade agreements and European perspective provide access to the vast European market. China is today a global leader in innovation, infrastructure, digitalization, and sustainable development. It is precisely in these areas that we see tremendous potential for cooperation, ranging from energy and transport to industrial production, new technologies, and the green transition.

Our goal is to further strengthen the ties between our two countries through direct dialogue, the exchange of ideas, and the development of concrete projects. At the same time, we want to create an environment that encourages new investments that will contribute to economic growth, benefit our citizens, and create opportunities for future generations.”

During the forum, FIPA presented Chinese business partners with an overview of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s investment potential, as well as a number of currently available investment projects that attracted the interest of representatives of Chinese companies.

Direct discussions with potential investors represent an important step toward turning this interest into concrete business projects and establishing long-term partnerships.

President of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zdravko Marinković, assessed that the visit of the Chinese business delegation represents an important opportunity to further strengthen economic relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and China, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, new technologies, and business cooperation.

“We expect this visit to further strengthen connections between companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the markets and value chains that connect Europe and Asia, while opening new opportunities for cooperation in areas such as the green and digital transitions, energy efficiency, and the resilience of global supply chains.

Our common goal must be to build stronger and more balanced economic cooperation, particularly by increasing the presence of products and services from Bosnia and Herzegovina on the Chinese market. We see particular value in partnerships that go beyond capital investment to include joint production, technology transfer, the development of new products, and the integration of domestic companies into international value chains.

The Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina aims to serve as a reliable bridge between the business communities of our two countries and to help transform our traditionally friendly relations into concrete business projects that will benefit both sides.”

The visit of the Chinese business delegation will continue with business meetings in Banja Luka, Mostar, and Brod, where Chinese representatives will have the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the potential of local economies, companies, and specific investment projects.

The strong participation and diverse profile of the Chinese delegation send a clear signal of the potential to further intensify business relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and China.
